Roller Operator
Position Overview
A road roller driver is primarily responsible for driving and operating a road roller to compact soil, gravel, asphalt, or concrete pavement in construction projects such as roads, airport runways, industrial plants, embankments, and other civil engineering projects . This position requires proficiency in roller operation and adherence to safety regulations to ensure construction quality and project progress.
Main Responsibilities
- Roller operation
Drive a road roller to roll and compact earth, gravel, asphalt and roadbed.
Control the number of rolling times, speed and pressure according to construction specifications to ensure density and construction quality.
Carry out segmented compaction at the construction site to avoid leakage or overcompaction.
- Daily inspection and maintenance
Before starting the machine, check the fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, brakes, vibration device and tires/steel wheels.
Keep the roller clean and replenish and replace the oil in time.
If any equipment failure or abnormality is found, report it promptly and assist in repairs.
- Security and Compliance
Strictly abide by road construction safety regulations and work in accordance with on-site traffic instructions and construction arrangements.
Keep a safe distance from other construction machinery and personnel to avoid accidents.
Stay alert when working on slopes, soft foundations or narrow areas to prevent rollover or getting stuck.
- Collaboration and Communication
Performs work according to instructions from Construction Manager or Road Construction Supervisor.
Coordinate operations with pavers, transport vehicles, and other compaction equipment to ensure overall construction progress.
When the working method needs to be adjusted, communicate with the construction management personnel in a timely manner.
- Records and Reports
Fill in the equipment operation log and daily maintenance records.
Provide suggestions for improvement on rolling quality, operating efficiency and machinery usage.
Job requirements
Applicants with junior high school or high school education or above, majoring in engineering machinery or road engineering is preferred.
Possess a road roller operator's license/special equipment operation license .
At least 1-3 years of experience in road roller driving and familiarity with common working conditions.
Understand road construction technology and compaction quality standards.
Ability to perform mechanical maintenance and simple troubleshooting.
