We create iconic ice cream brands that are part of everyday life, bringing moments of joy to millions of people around the world. Everybody loves ice cream. And as the world’s biggest pure‑play ice cream company, we have the scale and ambition to make a real difference.
What truly sets us apart is how we work.

We’re curious and ready for what’s next. We embrace digital, use data to make better decisions, and keep learning, including how AI can help us work smarter and serve consumers better.
The role
We are looking for a packaging development specialist to lead packaging for our Ice Cream portfolio in Ecuador, with occasional support to Venezuela and Colombia. You will develop distinctive packaging, drive innovation for the category and elevate the consumer experience, putting the consumer at the heart of every packaging decision and turning brand ambition into packaging that is technically robust, cost-efficient, sustainable and ready to scale.
Your responsibilities
• Lead the packaging workstream on innovation, cost-saving and sustainability projects, partnering with Brand Development, Brand Building and cross-functional teams to deliver packaging that meets the brief, on time and in full.
• Own the end-to-end packaging development cycle, from scoping and concept through supplier development and industrial trials to launch.
• Select sustainable, cost-efficient packaging solutions that protect the product throughout its shelf life and deliver the best possible usage experience.
• Develop and validate new packaging components, defining the required tests (e.g. migration and transport) to ensure food-contact compliance and translating results into clear, data-driven recommendations.
• Brief suppliers and converters technically, building a strong external ecosystem and scouting new technologies and innovations.
• Ensure solutions are scalable and fit for manufacturing, working closely with factories, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality and Marketing.
• Create and manage technical specifications for all packaging materials used in projects.
• Ensure compliance with the Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies, supporting risk management, product claims and environmental sustainability. We are looking for someone who Experience
• Has 4–5 years of experience in packaging R&D, packaging engineering or packaging innovation, and works confidently in a technical environment.
• Has hands-on knowledge of flexible (flowwraps, pouches), rigid, paperboard and corrugated packaging, among others.
• Knows food-contact packaging legislation and the tests required for ice cream, such as migration reports, and has run test plans including transport testing.
• Has written technical briefs for new artwork and can review and approve digital artwork.
• Understands printing processes for flexible, rigid and paperboard packaging, mainly gravure, offset and flexography.
• Has led industrial trials to scale developments onto filling and packing lines.
• Nice to have: early people leadership experience, as this role will coach and develop interns. Education & technical skills
• University degree in Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering or Packaging Design.
• Working knowledge of specification and packaging tools such as Cape Pack and SAP PLM.
• Uses AI smartly and critically to work faster and better (e.g. research, analysis, documentation), always validating outputs, and can share concrete examples and evidence of how they use it.
• Nice to have: experience in packaging development and performance in the cold chain (frozen storage and distribution); AutoCAD or similar technical drawing tools; knowledge of circular economy, recycling and PCR materials. Ways of working & competencies
• Is consumer obsessed: understands consumer needs and translates them into packaging solutions that make a real difference at the point of sale and in the consumption moment.
• Acts as a founder and owner: takes an end-to-end view, owns results and holds themselves to the highest standards of excellence.
• Is self-driven and able to report to a remote leader: self-accountable, proactive in communication and strong at managing own time and priorities.
• Manages multiple projects at the same time, with solid planning and a strong commitment to delivery.
• Experiments and innovates boldly, from disruptive ideas to daily improvements, and stays ahead of trends in ice cream, snacks and adjacent categories.
• Is open-minded and collaborative, optimises for the entire ice cream company rather than their own function, and gives and asks for honest, constructive feedback.
• Operates with speed and simplicity, cuts unnecessary bureaucracy and feels comfortable in an agile, constantly evolving organisation. Language & location
• Advanced to fluent English: able to write clear emails and reports and to participate actively in English-speaking business meetings.
• Based in Guayaquil, with on-site presence initially; a hybrid model may follow, so availability is required. Desirable
• Evidence of the Standards of Leadership (SoL), with concrete examples to share.
