Control and follow up for every open store enviromental studies and permits from Federal, state and locals jurisdiction, anticipating the permiting process and not afecting the store operation. Understands the enviromental regulations which apply on each state. Ensures cost-effective and quality through hiring environmental consultancy firms to obtain the applicable environmental permits for the continuity of the store operation. Prepares the paperwork needed to put together the stores environmental files. Authorizes the use of the hazardous waste temporary storage room. Control an follow up of every environmental authority inspection. Prepares and mantain up to date all the environmental procedures. Prepares and control the fiscal year environmental budget for open stores. Internally works with Permits, Real Estate, Finance, Maintenance and Operations departments. Responsibilities
• Renew the environmental permits of the stores to ensure business continuity. The permits that are renewed correspond to those obtained by the opening environmental team, the permits obtained during the regularization process for stores open before FY22 that were opened without environmental permits, and new permits requested by the authorities due to a change of government. Permits that are renewed include the following: Municipal environmental operation license, Municipal general waste generator registry, State recyclable generator registry, State annual or semi annual recyclable generation report, Wastewater discharge permit, Annual or semi annual wastewater discharge report, State Annual Report (COA), Environmental Registry Number (NRA), Hazardous waste management plan, Federal Annual Report (COA).
• Follow-up of the conditions of each of the environmental permits obtained (tree donation, implementation of waste generation logs, vehicle verification follow-up, annual or semi-annual laboratory analysis of wastewater discharge, etc.). Documentation is prepared and submitted to the authority on time.
• Follow-up on the payment of rights to obtain environmental permits, which includes the verification and request for the registration of the agency's account in people soft.
• Authorization process for the beginning of the use of the hazardous waste rooms. Includes identification of problems since its construction, requests to the maintenance department for room repairs, follow up with the loss prevention department to ensure the room is already alarmed, waste management training follow-up, and finally notification of authorization for its use to the Operations, Loss Prevention and Merchandise (Batteries) departments.
• Periodic follow-up with the new store opening environmental team to review the status of the operating permits that must be renewed once the store starts operating. In the meetings, the risks of fines identified in the stores for operating without the applicable permits will be notified, with special attention to the use of biodigester system for the wasteater discharge to natural soil.
• Creation of environmental compliance matrices at the state level and by store to identify the environmental permits applicable to the store's operation and follow-up on their compliance.
• Support to store manager during environmental inspections by federal, state and/or municipal authorities. Preparation of written responses to inspection records and follow-up on administrative procedures until their closure.
• Create and maintain up to date the recyclable and hazardous waste management procedures implemented in stores. Maintain up to date the enviaronmental information published in DOC México.
• Implementation in new and operating stores environmental controls in waste management (general waste, recyclable and hazardous waste). For example, creation of a waste generation log to identify annual genearation quantities and reports to the authorities when applicable and team up with the maintenance and energy departments to creat projects that minimize the energy and potable water in stores. Every project has to have the approval of the Operations and Finance department, so the projects are presented with them in order to obtain their approval.
• Identification of environmental consulting firms that can support obtaining environmental permits for open stores. At least two consultancies that can provide service in the area are identified and the best one is selected by carrying out an analysis that takes into account experience, the portfolio of services that can be provided and the costs they manage.
• Carry out the process to obtain a Purchase Order or CIRA for the NDA and PSA contract, as applicable. The entire process is carried out until the purchase order or signed contracts are obtained and a vendor number is assigned to the supplier.
• Preparation of environmental infographics with the aim of raising awareness among CAT and stores staff. Training for stores on specific topics requested by the authorities as compliance with environmental permits. Organization of environmental campaigns to promote the department.
• Estimate the annual environmental budget for open stores. Maintain constant communication with the Finance department to ensure we are always within budget. Notify and request approval from Finance and Operations on any extraordinary unbudgeted expense.
• Reconciliation of economic proposals against invoices issued by the environmental consultant, request for voucher generation so that payment is scheduled on time and follow-up with the consultant so once they received their payment the corresponding payment supplements are generated. Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent.
• Environmental /Chemical or Industrial Engineering
• Five to seven years.
