Job Brief

We are looking for a mid-level Front end Software engineer with 2+ years of experience. You'll be primarily focused on building and maintaining user-facing applications in React and Typescript, while collaborating closely with back end engineers, designers, and product owners to deliver high-quality, accessible, and performant features. 

As a mid-level engineer, you are expected to take ownership of features end-to-end, with some guidance from senior team members. You'll participate in design and architecture discussions, contributing to shaping our front end best practices. You should bring strong coding fundamentals, product-minded thinking, and the ability to transform high-level requirements into user-friendly experiences.

WBF provides technology-enabled solutions and services for gig workers' organizations and unions, supporting their members through innovative tools. Our front end applications are built with and Flutter, connect to a NodeJS-based back end (NestJS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL) with various API-based integrations. We are mission-driven, remote-friendly, and committed to building inclusive, impactful technology.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex technical challenges alongside our international team of software engineers
  • Implement features end-to-end: coding, writing tests, updating documentation, deploying, and reviewing.
  • Build and maintain responsive, performant, and accessible applications.
  • Contribute to a range of consumer-facing products across several technology stacks.
  • Work closely with product managers and designers to define feature requirements and implement thoughtful solutions.
  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, promoting high standards of code quality and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in frontend development.
  • Proficiency with

  • Solid understanding of core web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and browser APIs.
  • Experience with component-based architecture and state management in React.
  • Comfortable collaborating in a remote, distributed team using tools like GitLab, Slack, and Jira.
  • Preferred: Experience working with WordPress, including theme development, plugin integration, or maintaining WordPress-driven sites.
