Clojure Engineer (LATAM)

Having refinanced over $6B in loans, this US-based company is expanding its remote-first engineering team and seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers with applied Clojure experience to help scale their digital lending platform.

About the Role

As a Senior Clojure Engineer, you'll join a collaborative, low-ego engineering team that values ownership, honesty, and functional programming. You'll help build production-grade systems that enable thousands of users to manage their financial health more effectively.

You'll be working in a remote, agile environment with talented engineers across the Americas—using modern tools and practices to deliver high-quality, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain clean, well-tested APIs using Clojure.

• Contribute to the scalability and reliability of a large-scale fintech lending platform.

• Collaborate in a remote-first, async-friendly environment.

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

• Take ownership of features from design through deployment.

• Mentor junior developers when possible.

• Use AI tools and automation to increase productivity.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with functional languages and 2+ years hands-on with Clojure.

• Proven experience building and deploying Clojure applications in production.

• Solid understanding of functional programming (experience with Elixir, Haskell, Scala, or Lisp is a plus).

• Strong communication skills in English (B2–C1 level).

• Ability to thrive in a startup-paced, mission-driven environment.

• A collaborative and open mindset with a passion for clean code and scalable systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Tech Stack

• Primary: Clojure

• Secondary: ClojureScript, React, or other front-end JS frameworks (optional)

• Tools: Clojure REPL, idiomatic Clojure best practices

Location & Work Schedule

• Remote: LATAM-based candidates only.

• Full-time, Monday–Friday (EST hours; flexible)

• US holidays observed

• Company-provided encrypted laptop (Windows 11 Pro)

• Contractor role, paid in USD or local currency (flexible payment method)

Compensation

USD $5000 – $8000/month, depending on experience.
Long-term contractor engagement with full-time dedication.

Interview Process

1. Initial Interview 

2. Live Coding Challenge – 15-minute technical assessment

3. Technical Interview – with the client's engineering team (30–45 minutes)

4. Code Review Session – deep dive on coding style and logic (60 minutes)

5. Final Background Check – prior to onboarding (2 weeks).
