Role Description

We are looking for a professional in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Food Engineering, or related fields, with experience in development and optimization of botanical extracts and functional/nutraceutical formulations.

The role involves experimental and pilot trials, formulation validation, scale-up support, and technical documentation, working under GMP/GLP standards and in close collaboration with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Production teams.

Location: Mindo, Pichincha (on-site )

Engagement: Freelance / Project-based (with potential to grow)

What You´ll Work On

  • Development and optimization of single-plant botanical extracts
  • Design, adjustment, and validation of functional food formulations (blends, syrups, beverages, bars, gels)
  • Optimization of extraction protocols, including techniques, solvent systems, additives, and cost considerations
  • Execution of experimental, pilot, and application trials, generating reliable technical data
  • Evaluation of stability, shelf life, and sensory performance
  • Application of clean-label formulation strategies and practical stabilization techniques
  • Support for industrial scale-up and technology transfer to production
  • Preparation of technical documentation, reports, and data sheets aligned with ALCOA principles
  • Close collaboration with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Production teams

What We're Looking For

  • Background in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in product or process development is required; experience in functional ingredients and quality/food safety systems is a plus.
  • Proven experience in product development, formulation, or applied R&D (At least 2 years)
  • Hands-on experience with botanical extracts, functional foods, or nutraceuticals
  • Strong understanding of GMP / GLP / BPM environments
  • English proficiency level B2 or higher (mandatory)
  • Data-driven, practical, and solution-oriented technical mindset
  • Ability to troubleshoot across R&D–production interfaces
  • High discipline in data integrity, traceability, and documentation
  • Collaborative and consultative working style
