Position Overview:

Workers Benefit Fund is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Accounting & Payroll Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations, payroll processing, and system administration across the U.S. and Ecuador. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payroll execution, and supporting month-end close activities as the organization continues to grow.

The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping fundamentals, hands-on payroll experience across multiple countries, and extensive experience or deep working knowledge of Rippling. This position requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and accountability, as it will manage sensitive financial, payroll, and employee data.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting

  • Perform daily journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts through different companies.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections follow-up.
  • Prepare and issue customer and internal invoices.
  • Reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable to support the ongoing needs of cashflow.
  • Support month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting support.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation to support audits and reviews.
  • Work with Finance leadership on process improvements and financial controls.
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and operational projects as needed.

Payroll & Rippling

  • Serve as Rippling Administrator, owning system configuration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization.
  • Run payroll for U.S. and Ecuador, including:
  • Full-time employees.
  • Contractors and consultants.
  • Employees benefits.
  • Ensure accurate payroll inputs, approvals, tax handling, and compliance with local requirements.
  • Support payroll reporting, audits, and payroll-related reconciliations.

Compliance & Confidentiality

  • Handle all financial data with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Support compliance with local labor, payroll, and tax requirements in both countries.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for all accounting processes.
  • Cross-Functional Support.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven strong Excel skills.
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, Accounting, GAAP. Financial reconciliations.
  • Proven experience with Quickbooks (desirable).
  • Proven experience with (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of accounting, journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, invoicing, collections, and month-end close processes.
  • Being able to read, understand and give insights about a company through its Financial Statements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2).
  • Strong drive to learn, adapt, take initiative and create process improvements in a changing environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently, take ownership, and build scalable processes.
